General
Information
Michindoh has been in existence
since 1910. It started out as a camp to serve the oldest
denomination to originate in the United States, the United Brethren
in Christ denomination. It gets it’s name from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio; the
three states that formerly made up the Michindoh Conference of the U.B.
denomination. In 2006, the U.B. denomination decided to
restructure its governance and as part of that restructuring
Michindoh was entrusted to Lenawee Christian Ministries (LCS).
LCS is an independent Christian ministry based in Adrian Michigan,
and consists of the Lenawee
Christian School, the Christian
Family Center, and Michindoh Ministries Camp and Conference
Center.
In 1987, Michindoh moved to its
current location approximately 3 1/2 miles east of Hillsdale,
Michigan. Situated on 250 forested acres surrounding Weatherwood Lake,
Michindoh offers modern, up-to-date facilities in a beautiful, natural
setting. Michindoh serves Christian organizations with excellent
adult conference, youth camping, and retreat facilities for
families, couples and guests of all ages. Michindoh also
serves about 7000 youth each school year through our outdoor
academic programs provided for both public and private schools.
Michindoh's own Christ centered programs reach hundreds of youth
each summer with the good news of God's love, and minister to
couples, families, and seniors throughout the year.
As an active member of
Christian Camp
and Conference Association,
Michindoh continues to
focus on our commitment to excellence in Christian Camping. We are
licensed by the State of Michigan Family Independent Agency and exceed
the standards set by the state for children’s camps.
